What Is Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal treatment is used to save a damaged or infected tooth when the dental pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth) becomes inflamed or infected.

The treatment involves carefully removing infection from inside the root canal system before cleaning, disinfecting and sealing the tooth. This helps relieve pain, prevent further infection and preserve the natural tooth.

Without treatment, the infection may continue to spread and tooth extraction may become necessary.

FAQs

No, with modern numbing techniques and our experienced team, most patients say it feels like getting a standard filling. The pain you’re in before the treatment is worse than anything you’ll feel during it.

Depending on the complexity, your treatment may need one or two appointments. We’ll explain your full plan before starting.

Not usually. Losing a tooth can cause more problems: shifting teeth, bite issues, bone loss. If we can save it, we should.

Our specialist root canal consultations start at £100. Treatment fees reflect the complexity of the case and the specific tooth involved. As this is a specialist-led procedure, it includes the use of advanced equipment, such as an operating microscope for enhanced precision and the placement of a long-term core build-up or temporary restoration to stabilise the tooth until its final crown or onlay is fitted.

We offer flexible payment plans to help spread the cost.
